Faster Component Development
The folks at Not Web Design have just released a new tool for Joomla developers which speeds up the process of creating a proper MVC component. Their Joomla component creator tool automatically generates a zip file with all of the necessary files to get started developing a component. The tool takes care of extending the necessary class names and directory structures as well as the install XML file. It should save at least an hour for any Joomla component developer.

In my recent work, I discovered another component generator. This one created by alphaplug. This one has more options than the Not Web Design version such as language files, install sql files, etc. I would personally recommend the alphaplug generator if you are doing any large scale work or a component you are planning on selling.
